Nice one Sean! I have been inspired by Obama's campaign, and as a genuine sales person, I cannot split off my professional role from my personality - so that inspiration relates to my job as well. I do see a 6th lesson: work on eloquence. Yes it is critical to stress the benefits of what you sell, but it has to be done in a way that hits home - brief, clear, convincing. And I'm also sure there's a 7th lesson: market research, combined with gut feeling. The Obama campaign never made a point of addressing the African American electorate separately, and that worked out very well.
