I’m going to go out on a limb here but I bet you’re hardly every “wowed” nowadays.
As a nation we’re consistently underwhelmed.
What do I mean by this?
We’re consistently underwhelmed by the level of service we receive in shops.
We’re consistently underwhelmed that we’ve got to have a day off work to have our new sofa delivered because their estimated time is anywhere between 9 and 5.
We’re consistently underwhelmed because at 5pm on a Sunday the whole country closes down.
There are just no surprises anymore!
I’m turning into a moaner in my old age.
Or am I?
You see, I never settle for second best. I ask the most of myself every day and I expect the same off my staff and unfortunately off everyone else too!
So when excellence is not delivered (because I demand it from myself and others all day) I just feel let down.
I know this is setting myself up for a fall but I’ve got standards here.
I’m sick of having to accept a “good level of service” when I go out. Good just isn’t good enough nowadays.
When a sales person comes into my office to pitch me some training software and he hasn’t done his research on me or MTD or he treats me as though I’ve never met a sales person in my life, this just underwhelms me.
Unfortunately I am underwhelmed every single day.
Do you feel this way?
Maybe our standards are higher than the rest.
What you should do…
The good news is that you don’t have to do a lot to “wow” people nowadays because they are not used to it!
Even doing what you said you were going to do, when you said you were going to do it, the way you said you were going to do it will amaze your prospects and clients!
I call that just delivering on your promises.
Instead, look to go the extra mile.
What can you do before, during and after the sale to really surprise your prospect?
In a world full of emails, social media and telephone calls, receiving physical mail is becoming a thing of the past and people receiving love parcels/post! (bills excluded!)
So what can you post out to your prospect to surprise them?
Can you leave them a message that will make them smile?
What can you do to make yourself stand out from the rest?
It doesn’t have to cost a lot. Just think of something innovative and different that will make them think of you and show them that you truly care.
